Is it a poem or an essay? A film review or a personal history? The conversation is
coming to a city near you! For their upcoming summer book tour, Hi/Bird,
University of Iowa Press authors Arianne Zwartjes and Aisha Sabatini Sloan
will be conducting a series of readings to promote a conversation about hybrid
approaches to writing, and to spread the word about their recent essay
collections.
Arianne Zwartjes’ poems and essays have been published in Ninth Letter, Terrain, No Tell Motel, and Front Porch. She has published two chapbooks, as well as a book of poems entitled, The Surfacing of Excess, which won the 2009 Blue Linx Prize for poetry. Her recent book of lyric essays, Detailing Trauma: A Poetic Anatomy was published by University of Iowa Press in the fall of 2012.
